| Our
track from Toussus to Land's End crosses over Alderney. No need to stop
for cheap fuel, we have a tailwind for the first of our overseas crossing
(70NM to Burry Head, which Emmanuel absolutely wants to rename Bitchy Head,
wondering why ??) |
| On
the south west coast of Cornwall, cumulus are scattered. It's much denser
and stratus looking inside but that's fine with us, we are just following
the coast until it stops, westwards. |
| Our
first final into a field with cows was caught by ATC ("Charlie Mike, I
think you are a bit off to the left !). The second one (into another field,
but this time Runway 25) took us into Land's End |

| Taking
off from Land's End for the shortest sea crossing of the day (28NM to St
Mary's) |

The
weather is fantastic, we can already see the shape of the islands as soon
as we are airborne. Let's go for the scenic flight !
5 islands
are inhabited, |
| 200
have names but only cater to countless bird species which attract bird
watchers from all over the world. Most rocks and sand bars are just there
to make sailors miserable. |
| As
all of you know, the Gulf Stream is to blame for the mild climate of the
Scillies, thus allowing a most suprising subtropical flora to grow and
prosper |
| Looks
like we've just flown into the West Indies ;-) |
| Tresco
is famous for its extravagant gardens that are hidden by the trees |
| Difficult
to believe we are in Cornwall (or UK for that matter !) |
| The
grass strip is restricted to the Sikorskies that bring in the tourists.
Too bad ! It was just long enough for our Wassmer. |
| Bryher |
| You
don't want to get astray on a boat between Tresco and Bryher |
| Let's
bank the plane to have a good look at the gardens |

to the left on final to St Mary's |
