St Mary's, here we come (with caution !!)
"Pilots should exercise extreme caution when landing or taking off as the aerodrome is severely hump-backed !"

Looking right on final, to Hugh Town (alias New Town)
dscn2445.jpg
Straight on final to Runway 15. The field is short (600m) and tricky (the first 100m rise by 3.1%, so you only see half of the runway when you land).
dscn2449.jpg
As advertised on the Flyer List, the best way to land is on the numbers. If not, go around and try again. Low on the glide, but straight on the numbers, with a good cross wind
dscn2450.jpg
Here we go ! After the bump the rest of the runway goes down to the see at a 3.3% slope (remember when you are on final you should be on a 5% slope, that gives you an idea)

Cleaning up, unloading, setting down for the night. And we are quite happy to be there !

Having a go at the Scillies in this kind of weather is both lucky & lovely
dscn2455.jpg
The best way around (too bad for Emmanuel) is the bike. St Mary's is tolerably hump backed (for bikers)

The view from our bed & breakfast... Could be worse

On the north west side of St Mary's, a testimonial amongst many of very early settlers (1800 BC)

Small flowers and big smile

If you want bulbs just put the money in the jampot
dscn2476.jpg
All over the islands you will find benches for resting, mediating or taking a nap
dscn2477.jpg
On the next day, a small motor boat takes us to St Agnes
dscn2482.jpg
St Agnes is a tiny island with a pond roughly in the middle
dscn2483.jpg
At low tide you can walk out to Gugh on a sand bar
